MM Lover who is never afraid of casting David as her book boyfriend of the day.

Red Dirt Heart

Red Dirt Heart - N.R. Walker Even better the second time. Absolute love for these two. ❤️❤️❤️

Original review from September 2014

So there was one line that pretty much summed up this book for me and that is...

"I knew you'd find me."

And while obviously only one of these two beautiful men actually said this, it could have easily been spoken numerous times by either of them. One lost in knowing that he will forever live a life of solitude and one traveling thousands of miles to a cattle farm hours from civilization; there is no doubt that they were meant to find one another.

Just a beautiful story, set in an equally beautiful setting. With equal amounts of sexual tension, hot scenes and tender moments, this book had it all for me. I eagerly await the continuation and hope for more on Travis' life and background while seeing their relationship take on new levels of intimacy.

Plus there are some amazingly heartbreaking scenes with George and Ma that had me in tears. Love for these two.

Holy hell, that was hot. *fans self* *tries to get back to work*

69% done with Red Dirt Heart: I'd jumped into raging rivers, ridden wild bulls, bucking horses and fought off deadly snakes. I'd done a thousand crazy things in my life that made Ma yell at me, but I'd never - never - been as scared as I was when I looked at him.

Travis looked about twenty- two years old, not much younger than me. Whereas I was a stockier build, with dull brown hair and boring brown eyes, he was taller than me by a few inches and muscular and lean. He held out his hand and smiled. “Mr Sutton. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” His accent was strange to hear at first, but his smile was warm and wide.
I wiped my hand on my shirt and held it out for him to shake. “Travis,” I said with a nod. “Please, call me Charlie.”
I'm swooning already.

12% done with Red Dirt Heart: He took off his cap and tried the old Akubra on. It fit him okay. He pulled on the crown of it, shufflin’ it ’til it felt right. “Better?”
I gave him a nod. “Much.”

Yeah. I'm a sucker for Brad...he could totally be my Travis. ❤️❤️

41% done with Red Dirt Heart: Just as I was about to say goodnight, he spoke. “Charlie?”
He walked up the hall , and leaning in, he kissed me softly. “You don’t have to be scared of me anymore.” I tried to say something back to him, but he lifted my chin and kissed me again. “Goodnight.”
I nodded. “Night.”

I could quite possibly be doing this during the entire reread. ;)

47% done with Red Dirt Heart: Ho. Ly. Fuck.

54% done with Red Dirt Heart: His eyes fell to his hands. It was the first time I’d ever seen him unsure. “It makes sense now.”
“What does?”
He took a little while to answer. “I wondered what demons lurked in those eyes of yours. And that’s what it is. You carry your father’s words around with you.” He stared at me with something I couldn’t quite place. “I can’t imagine the weight of them.”

57% done with Red Dirt Heart: And when I woke in the morning, he was still in my bed. He was on his stomach, his head turned to face the wall and the sheet down to his waist. I marvelled at the lines of his back, that so- soft hair at the nape of his neck, and the curve of his ass under the sheet.
My bed smelled of him, I smelled of him, and even though I knew he shouldn’t spend the night in my bed— it was too high a risk of being caught— I didn’t care.
The sight of him in my bed, sound asleep with sex- sleep- tousled hair, was something I’d never forget. I took in everything: every line, every muscle, the way the colours changed on his skin as the room grew lighter, and I burned it into memory.
I wanted to be able to recall, with perfect clarity, everything about this moment in five, ten or fifty years. Because I knew once he left, once he went back home to the States, I’d never have this again.

64% done with Red Dirt Heart: “I’m pretty sure I read in the travel brochures that you could come out to the Outback for some alone time. But I’m not sure it included some hot station owner whose ass in those jeans in that saddle have been driving me insane for three days.”
I just adore Travis. ❤️❤️❤️
